Tonight I am excited to announce that Shelfari is making a preview available of a new way for users to share their shelves! By copying some simple code into a blog or website you can now show off the books you love and even make money doing it! Here are some of the cool features of our blog / website plug-in:
- Customize exactly which books you want to show off -- You can show your entire book collection, one of the lists you've created (wish list, top 10, currently-reading list), or all of your books with a common tag.
- Make Money! We know lots of people make money from recommending books on their blog or website. We have set up the plug-in to easily allow you to put in your own Amazon Affiliate ID, so when your visitors go to buy the book, you will get the money.
- Customize to your site - You can size the plug-in to fit your site as needed.
In the next few days we are going to add a simple wizard to the Shelfari site that will automatically create the "code" you need to put this on your blog or website, so keep your eyes open for it. And for those adventurous types, we have a detailed post below showing you how to do this today.
So, without further delay, check out Kevin Beukelman's Top 10 Books:
I use IE 7 and I have flash player installed. However, when I navigate to this page I'm asked to install the Flash player again. Even when I do so (and click on the control to activate it), nothing appears...

A comment: it'd be nice when going through my wish list, or reading list, to simply check (or uncheck) the books I want to delete and then hit a kind of "submit" button. Instead, I have to click, and hit "add to list", and then uncheck, and then go back to my list all over again. It gets tedious when I'm trying to change 10 or so books. Thanks for your efforts!

Also there are a fair amount of books that are said to be in common between my shelf and anothers. However, upon further investigation this isn't always the case as it says we own a common book that I actually don't own. ;) Just a heads up.

I'm really enjoying this site!
I think it would be really great if there was a place where I could make some personal notes - not for others to read but just to remind myself of something I want to read or some book I remember having read but can't quite come up with the name or author yet... etc. Or other notes that are just for my eyes only.

Kevin (the B-variant), let me know when you figure out a way to support WordPress so that I don't have to manually cut and paste links to books on my shelf. While I'm perfectly willing to continue the practice in order to support your venture, I'm sure you can come up with a cooler implementation than my primitive workaround. Thanks!

I also second that supporting wordpress would be nice.
