Welcome Google Users

We've had a lot of inquiries from press, friends, investors, and readers on Google's new My Library feature.  Those not super familiar with Shelfari and its community were very concerned for our welfare and longevity.  To those who are concerned, it's time to relax.  For our friends at Google, glad you're here.

You see, Google Books' My Library feature is a very efficient vehicle for its users to search and build a library of books.  It's a bit spartan... well it's Google... but it's very efficient.  But comparing Google to other cataloging services shows their service to be dramatically more user friendly.  Users can search and add using Google if they prefer their search engine to Amazon or Shelfari. When they're done and ready to discuss their books, the library can be easily imported to Shelfari.  Simply click "Export your books" and paste that link into Shelfari's Import from Web Site module.  Voila!  Your books are automatically pulled into Shelfari.  So, Google is just one more choice for cataloging those books so you move on to the fun part: talking about them.

We will have to wait and see if readers actually adopt Google as a cataloging service.  If we see a fair amount of interest, we may tell our users about it on Shelfari.  We'll wait and see.  For now it's a geek feature.  But we like geeks.

More reading music

It's been a while since I posted some reading music.  I've been thinking that we should share book soundtracks, so if anyone has one in mind do send it our way.

This playlist is a collection my typical offerings: folk, downtempo electronica, and folk-meets-downtempo.  You can try playing these tunes on Rhapsody, my former employer and habitual love.

Enjoy
